What is changing?
As of January 1st, 2012 Dr. Mulhall will become an out-of-network provider for all health insurances. If you have out-of-network coverage, the staff at Active Spine & Sport Therapy will provide you with detailed instructions and the needed items for you to submit your visit information to your insurance company and the appropriate reimbursement will then be sent directly to you.
You can continue to utilize your in-network health insurance coverage at Active Spine & Sport Therapy if you are seen by either Dr. Janson Kemp or Dr. Bryan Hapka. Each team doctor has been personally trained by Dr. Mulhall, so the care you receive will be consistent regardless of which doctor you decide to see. We want to make sure that our office’s rapid results, unique diagnostic and treatment styles and elite-level care continue to be readily available.Why are things changing?
Everyone is aware of the changing landscape of healthcare today. Each year, over the past 6 years we have weathered 5-10% reimbursement reductions from health insurance companies. This environment makes it impossible to continue spending the time it takes with each patient to provide the elite-level care we offer and also maintain a viable practice.
Instead of changing the care we provide due to pressure from health insurances, we have decided to shun the common adaptations that many practices are forced into such as – increased patient load, reduced time with the doctor, less personalized care, fewer care options, less available appointments and difficulty scheduling.
We will never allow anything to reduce your time with our doctors and denigrate the quality of care you receive from our office. The new changes will allow us to continue to provide the exemplary care you’ve come to expect and we will continue to save you money because of the rapid results we obtain.
It’s the time that we spend problem solving through each condition that leads to our amazing results and provides the most specific and detailed care possible.
What are the new options and advantages?
- All the care you receive during each visit with Dr. Mulhall will be included in one simple charge determined by how long you choose your visit to last.
All of the following therapy options are included in the time-based visit/charge:
- Active Release Techniques (ART) Manual Therapies
- McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT)
- Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Corrective Exercises
- Fascial Distortion Model (FDM) Manual Therapies
- Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
- Nimmo Trigger Point Therapy (TPT)
- Functional and Corrective Rehabilitative Training Programs
- Chiropractic Joint Manipulation – Spinal and/or Extremity
- Home Mobility and Flexibility Protocols
- Detailed Patient Education and Self Care Recommendations

- Additional Charges only apply to the following therapies (if required or requested during your visit)

- You get to decide how much time you want to spend with Dr. Mulhall and get to choose between 30 and 60 minute visit options as well as Saturday In-Office and Saturday In-Home (House Call) Appointments.
If you are a New Patient, you must schedule the “New Patient Appointment” which is 60 minutes and includes the necessary time to complete a Full Medical History/Consultation, Orthopedic/Neurologic/Functional Examinations, Appropriate Treatment, Patient Education and Home Exercise Design. If you attempt to schedule a shorter visit as a New Patient, your visit will be rescheduled to the appropriate length and classification
- You know the exact charge for each visit beforehand.
When using health insurances, patients rarely know what the charges will be beforehand and frequently end up paying at the time of visit and then receiving additional, unexpected bills weeks later because the health insurance decided not to pay for multiple items and then the patient is left to cover the additional costs.
- You will be provided with all the information necessary to submit your visits to your health insurance for out-of-network reimbursement to be sent directly to you.
The staff at Active Spine & Sport Therapy will provide you with detailed instructions and the needed items for you to submit your own visit information to your insurance company to then directly receive the appropriate reimbursement.
- You will be seen by Dr. Mulhall right at your scheduled appointment time and you will know exactly when your visit will finish to make your daily scheduling that much easier.
Dr. Mulhall will no longer run behind schedule any more than just a few minutes and you know exactly when your appointment will end. This means that you will be able to easily coordinate your daily schedule and get the personalized care and attention you deserve.
- Online Scheduling is now available from your computer, tablet or mobile phone
Our online scheduler is now up and running for regular weekday appointments! You can now easily schedule your visits with Dr. Mulhall right from the web browser on your computer, tablet or phone!
You can access our online scheduler right through our website. Just click on the Blue Arrow on the left side of our webpage or go to the PATIENT CENTER tab at the top of the page and select "Dr Mulhall's Patients" and then "Schedule an Appointment Online".
Don’t forget to create a bookmark for your computer or a shortcut icon for your Iphone to make it even easier in the future!

- Text Message and Email Appointment Reminders
The new online scheduler will also automatically send you a reminder email 2 days before your visit to give you enough time to reschedule your appointment if necessary and then a text message reminder 25 hours before your visit so you never forget an appointment.
- Dr. Mulhall is now offering Saturday Appointments In-Home and In-Office
To make access to care as available as possible, Dr. Mulhall is now offering appointments on Saturday mornings.
Both In-Home (House Call) and In-Office appointments are available!
If you’d like access to either of these options please contact our office at 817-332-5353 to verify Dr. Mulhall’s availability and schedule your appointment. (Online scheduling is not available currently for Saturday appointments)
Pre-payment is required to confirm Saturday appointments.
- You can continue using your in-network health insurance coverage as you always have.
Active Spine & Sport Therapy’s additional team doctors will continue their in-network status with all our current insurance contracts. So you may continue using your in-network health insurance benefits just as always, if you choose to see one of the other doctors in the practice.
